RoshanaraThis year the children have started participating in inter-NGO tournaments and the good players are now being trained to participate in tournaments to be held at the state and national level.

Some of our recent events through the year:

khelshala-17With great pride we would like to share that our’ Youth for Sport’ players participated in several National Youth Squash tournaments held in Chandigarh, Kolkata, Jodhpur, Delhi this year and they performed very well.

hamdardRoshanara Event – 29th October’ 17
A One Day Invitational Squash tournament was organized by Mr. Atul Bhatia, Mr. Swayam Bhatia and Youthreach at the Roshanara Club, Delhi A Total 10 matches were played between both teams. Both teams played well but at the end Youthreach team won, score line was 6-4.

youthreachKhelshala , Chandigarh – 25th November’17
Our young squash players participated in the SRFI- 2nd Khelshala Squash Championship in Chandigarh and performed exceedingly well.

Hamdard – Delhi – 9th February’18
“Youth for Sport” squash players participated in “Squash Rackets Federation of India HAMDARD DELTON Squash OPEN” in Delhi. It was good exposure for the kids to participate and compete in National Level tournament with other kids.

Fitness First Drive – 25th February’18
Fitness First distributed sports t-shirts and shorts to all our of Youth for Sport programme.

In the month of August, Ravish Nanda from Teamkitting very generously donated 50 T-shirts for all the participants of the Sports Programme. Children received the T-shirts at the DDA Squash and Badminton stadium from the Youthreach team, they were very happy after receiving new t-shirts.

Master Class Session by Dipika Pallikal
India’s top squash player Dipika Pallikal and sports brand Adidas teamed up to conduct a Master class session for the children. In the two-hour session, the 22-year-old from Chennai guided our budding young players on how to improve their performance and play. master-classesThe children were very excited to meet the celebrity squash player and were so motivated and inspired to learn from her that even after the two hour session they were unwilling to go home. Dipika interacted with each and every player individually and taught them how to improve their strokes and use different techniques to play in the court. Youthreach would like to thank Adidas for this tremendous opportunity given to our children to meet and play with Dipika Pallikal.

Merchants Cup Squash Fall Challenge
The children participated and displayed utmost zeal and enthusiasm during the Merchant’s Cup Squash Fall Challenge organised by the Great Indian Squash League to celebrate the World Squash Day at the DDA Squash and merchants-cupBadminton Stadium. The children also got an opportunity to play with the national level players .This time they seem very confident and some participants reached at the quarterfinal level.

Fitness First comes to Youth for Sport
Vikram Bhatia, Managing Director, Fitness First came to the Sports Stadium to interact with our children and watch them play. The highlight was when Vikram and his wife Anna distributed scrumptious, wholesome, nutritious sandwiches to the children which they just loved. Gautam from Udayam Prayas ffsaid ’Never before has something so healthy been so delicious’. Fitness First has also very generously donated trendy red T shirts, black sweat shirts and silver grey water bottles for the children. A million thanks to Vikram Bhatia and Fitness First for supporting Youthreach’s Youth for Sport Programme.

Inter NGO Squash Tournament
In November 2013, Youthreach organised an inter-NGO squash tournament at the DDA Squash and Badminton Stadium. The tournament was organised between Events-inter-NGO-squash-tournamenttwenty eight children from our partner NGOs and other children from different government schools. Well attended by parents, the tournament comprised of 11 matches post which trophies and certificates were handed over to the winners. Eight star performers out of the total twenty eight participants were selected to be trained for the upcoming national championship.

Family Sport Picnic: An Event by Magic Bus
In February 2014, Magic Bus organised a Family Sports Picnic Event at Modern School, Vasant Vihar. The aim of the event was to take the egalitarian vision of ‘Youth for Sport’ to the field and have children from diverse socio-economic segments play together. Children from Salaam Baalak Trust, Vidya and Child and Udayan Care represented Youthreach in the event. Events-family-sport-picnicChildren participated with much gusto even though many of them were new to tennis, football, cricket, volleyball and other games. Children from Salaam Baalak Trust won everyone’s hearts with their excellent performance during the cricket match.
