Workshops and Trainings
Youthreach conducts regular trainings and workshops for its partner organisations both at a national and international level. The objective of these trainings and workshops is to build skills and techniques of the trainers in the areas of Life Skills, Spoken English, Career Counseling and Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health.
1. KEY initiative – Knowledge, Empowerment and Youth Development
A five day long workshop on Workplace English was organised for Lady Bamford Charitable Trust. The focus of the workshop was to get participants acquainted with the Workplace English Curriculum and train them, so that, they are able to further facilitate the contents of the curriculum in an effective manner. A total of 17 teachers from LBCT attended the TOT. The workshop intended to capacitate the trainers, so that they are further able to build the capacity of the students to take on the challenges of their lives. The workshop also gave the trainers an insight of the adult mind and how it learns and works in different situations. A total of 22 teachers from LBCT attended the TOT.
2. Planning for Life
The planning for life programme aimed to integrate reproductive health and family planning into youth development projects. The 4 day workshop, focused on building the capacity of youth trainers/leaders to facilitate reproductive health lessons amongst youth more effectively. 13 partner NGOs participated in this workshop held in Delhi. The workshop was facilitated by Himalini Varma and Santayan from Thought Shop Foundation.
3. Bhutan Youth Development Fund
A 4 day training programme was organised for the peer educators of the Drug Deaddiction programme team of BYDF. The workshop focused on personality development, communication, team work and burn out management. A total of 12 participants were part of the workshop.
The 8 day long refresher training helped the trainers to brush up their existing skills and learn, unlearn and relearn new skills. It also helped them to identify the gaps in their training pedagogy and personal qualities, which are hindering them from achieving the programme goals and the goals set for their class.
4. Career counseling
Two day Career counseling workshops were conducted for the students at Agrasar, Arushi Shelter Home and Don Bosco Technical Institute Delhi, to make them aware of their own skills and competencies and widen their knowledge about the variety of career options that they can choose from. The workshop aimed at enabling the students in understanding how their values, skills, interests, passions, and world outlook influence their career decisions and also to make them aware of their potential in realising their goals. The workshops included discussions, case studies, role play, exercises and activities.
